EATING HEALTHY (1)

The celebrations have come and gone and we have sure had loads of fun and plenty to eat and drink. When taking an inventory of my life last year I resolved in my heart that one of my main goals was to eat healthy. I had an uneven way of suddenly bloating and slimming down during the course of the year and really it wasn’t funny.
Upon my resolve, I decided to eat everything and anything I could lay my hands on ranging from pork ribs (which is highly ‘cholesteroly’) to ice cream, lots of rice by the way and turkey. I became the house dustbin, taking in all rejecting nothing. Well I ate like that because I wanted to make sure I missed nothing when I transitioned.
Now I am ready to take that first step geared towards healthy eating and guess what? Its FASTING (not eating at all).

Yippee (still waiting for your reaction). I probably might be the only one excited about this regiment for now but  wait till you understand the benefits of fasting.
Fasting is an act of abstinence from certain or all food or drink or even both for a certain period of time. Fasting could be self imposed, and could also be part of a religious obligation.

Fasting has been recommended, tested and proved as a therapy for various conditions by health professionals. Do you know that Fasting;
1.       Detoxifies;
2.       Helps to end Addictions;
3.       Aids Colon Cleansing;
4.       Has healing Properties
5.       Helps in the loss of excess weight; among others.

Now like every other thing Fasting should be done in moderation, as excessive fasting could result in a medical condition known as Anorexia Nervosa. A condition caused by immoderate food restriction and inappropriate eating habits, or obsession. No better way to describe it than this;

I always advise to keep hydrated during fasts with healthy and edible liquids. Preferably water. Fresh Fruit juices can also be used if going on a juice fast. I would advise that while breaking your fast break with fruits first before any other thing as your digestive system has gone on sabbatical all day any forced intrusion by heavy foods might be devastating.
Eat right Live right.
More on the benefits of fasting in my next post.

MORE THAN A RESOLUTION

And the clock struck 12, revealing the beginning of another phase in the lives of the ones bound by time. Screams rent the air, joyful, gleeful, uncertain of the future, uncertain of their lives, yet enjoying every moment the new year brings
It’s a new year once again. A  New year always comes with new hopes. A lot of people would have at the end of the previous year taken an inventory of their lives(I took an inventory)and discovered areas where they are found wanting and then resolve to change or amend. Thus, there’s going to be a lot of New Year resolutions flying around.

 (Which is not bad. I’m really up for a fresh start), after all the sweatiness of the past year. However,  it’s common knowledge that many of these new year resolutions usually don’t outlast at best the first three months. This is because we make resolutions like;
I want to get married this year;
I want to stop lying this
I don’t want this year to pass on without getting a car.

If you are a little spiritual, we add God to the list however the theme song is still the same I WANT like we can get it all by ourselves.
 A lot of us right from the beginning of the year develop the parasitic mindset where we devise how to get all and give little or nothing, then at the end of the year we can go to the churches with our self centred lists celebrating and asking friends to celebrate with us because it could only be God…
There’s a reason our self centred resolutions do not hold water or when they do they don’t go beyond three months and its because;
By its very nature its self centred
Now I’m not against having desires or expectations because I believe without them, you don’t have a life but then;
why do you want what you want  and how badly do you want it?
While making all your new year resolutions, why don’t you make them with purpose instead of making vague and selfish resolutions; A resolution with history and purpose has more potential of being realized than just a resolution.
Have more than a resolution this year  HAVE PURPOSE.

For your resolution to be sustained it has to be more than just you alone. Include others, you are not an island, the people around you can make or mar your good fortune. This is not the year to make selfish resolutions. It’s a year to look out for ourselves and others. Most of all include God. Its going to be a deciding year for us as individuals, as people and as a Nation and no one Knows it better than the one who brought you into it. Acknowledge him in all your ways and he shall direct your pathway.
I love you and I wish you the best 2015 which would be spent achieving all your dreams and influencing lives.
Much love @ Cherrylynnspeaks

EAT RIGHT LIVE RIGHT

Eat right folks for your lives depend on it.

In January I'll be starting a series on healthy eating habits. It's something I'm trying to achieve myself and its really not far fetched. My mom started it last year and now she looks sweet 16. We even wear the same size of clothes now (covers face). So I'm ready to sooo eat healthy in 2015 where I'll be sharing her calming recipes.
Till then... Shalom

The Difference Making Christmas

It’s the morning of Christmas (just seven minutes past midnight), and I can hear a barrage of fireworks cracking just right outside my window. This signals the dawn of a new day. Now this is not just any day by the way, it’s the day we choose to celebrate the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ. December the 25th.
To some it’s just another day in the history of Christmas (it’ll pass), To some others it’s a day for Thanks giving, To  another set it’s a day to unwind and at the same time paste love messages on their Time lines, a Love they neither have an intention nor idea of expressing. I mean I woke up this morning reading a contact’s post on my Blackberry feeds;
“ping if you have booze… oya lets start consuming / Much love at Christmas”
 It just says it all. some believe it’s a time to make requests (I did this in the past), To some others it’s a time to change wardrobe, Some Poultry lovers will agree with me that it’s a time to unleash with reckless abandon their love for, roasted, fried, boiled, steamed, grilled, parboiled and even burnt Chicken. A lot of people carry a twisted image of Christmas.
 Beyond the season of Celebration which is characterized by a lot of eating and drinking, let us remember it was a time when the King who had all and who is all came down to identify with the poor, needy, the hopeless and hungry. He could have been born in the best of palaces, (probably the city of David), but he chose to be born in a manger a lowly place in the midst of livestock. While many of us had a cot or maybe a bed right there at birth , all he had was a manger(a trough or open box in a stable designed to hold feed or fodder for livestock) He chose a hometown whose slogan was “Can any thing good come out of Nazareth?”

While we celebrate this day, let’s take our time to identify with the poor the needy around us, the broken, the rejected the abandoned, the hopeless who see no reason in the season, the Chibok girls and their families, the children who have no home to go to for Christmas, the numerous dead hacked to death in Northern Nigeria, the 104 children killed by terrorists in the Middle East, the people who have black Christmases because of a disaster of some sorts they link to that day. Let’s help to make new memories.
Christmas is not just a getaway holiday that should be centered on us it’s a period of time when the life of others matter. Isn’t that the reason Christ came for at Christmas anyway?  Lets have a different Christmas this year. Don’t hold back! Share and Love unconditionally for it was a period that God did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves .
Lets have it different this year for THE TRUE CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS LIES WITH BEING TO OTHERS WHAT CHRIST HAS BEEN TO US.

             Merry Christmas blogfolks. I love you all.

She Finally Speaks

We all see life from different perspectives. The best perspective is the one we know best.

I've been putting off blogging for a long time because; I've always felt well every one blogs or owns a blog. But then I asked myself why not?  if not?, I can create my own space in the cyber world where I can voice out my opinions in the heat of it and then read months later and ask myself; did you really think this?  Did you really write this? (If people decide to read and comment? Why not?) Well just for the thrills, I choose to start blogging today, 20th December, 2014.
 My main subject? I know not yet but man I’m sure its going to be pretty interesting. I already feel giddy up inside. A lot of things would shape my perspective which will in turn influence my posts. I can’t promise unbiased posts also because, every post would be based on a perspective which I hold. But then it would be worth my while and yours if you do join me.
I formally welcome myself to the world of bloglords, blogladies and whoever loves the blogprefix
Peace and goodwill to all men in the spirit of Christmas.
