EATING HEALTHY (1)

The celebrations have come and gone and we have sure had loads of fun and plenty to eat and drink. When taking an inventory of my life last year I resolved in my heart that one of my main goals was to eat healthy. I had an uneven way of suddenly bloating and slimming down during the course of the year and really it wasn’t funny.
Upon my resolve, I decided to eat everything and anything I could lay my hands on ranging from pork ribs (which is highly ‘cholesteroly’) to ice cream, lots of rice by the way and turkey. I became the house dustbin, taking in all rejecting nothing. Well I ate like that because I wanted to make sure I missed nothing when I transitioned.
Now I am ready to take that first step geared towards healthy eating and guess what? Its FASTING (not eating at all).

Yippee (still waiting for your reaction). I probably might be the only one excited about this regiment for now but  wait till you understand the benefits of fasting.
Fasting is an act of abstinence from certain or all food or drink or even both for a certain period of time. Fasting could be self imposed, and could also be part of a religious obligation.

Fasting has been recommended, tested and proved as a therapy for various conditions by health professionals. Do you know that Fasting;
1.       Detoxifies;
2.       Helps to end Addictions;
3.       Aids Colon Cleansing;
4.       Has healing Properties
5.       Helps in the loss of excess weight; among others.

Now like every other thing Fasting should be done in moderation, as excessive fasting could result in a medical condition known as Anorexia Nervosa. A condition caused by immoderate food restriction and inappropriate eating habits, or obsession. No better way to describe it than this;

I always advise to keep hydrated during fasts with healthy and edible liquids. Preferably water. Fresh Fruit juices can also be used if going on a juice fast. I would advise that while breaking your fast break with fruits first before any other thing as your digestive system has gone on sabbatical all day any forced intrusion by heavy foods might be devastating.
Eat right Live right.
More on the benefits of fasting in my next post.
